Unbowed Wilfried Nancy insists he is not worried about the sack yet the Parkhead faithful unleash fury after loss.

The under-pressure manager insisted he was not afraid of losing his job, maintaining, “The team is extremely close to things turning around,” despite moving dangerously close to being fired with a comprehensive setback against Rangers.

A Second-Half Collapse Results in Derby Disaster

Celtic had led their oldest rivals at the break but a second-half capitulation enabled Rangers to move level on points with the current Scottish Premiership champions. The former MLS manager, who was brought in in December, has now been in charge for six setbacks in his first eight matches.

“The board and I are united at the club,” stated Nancy.

Asked directly about whether he was concerned, Nancy replied: “It’s not on my mind. My focus is on discovering solutions to get the team to improve on the fine details.

Fan Fury On Display

Hundreds of supporters made their feelings clear – aimed at the hierarchy – in their hundreds at full time. Club directors are thought to be considering to re-appoint the interim manager, who had a fruitful caretaker period last year, should a change be made.

“It’s the results [that leads to pressure]. That is the reality for the moment. But in stating that’s how it is, it doesn’t mean that I am pessimistic. Absolutely not. What I mean the turnaround is near, really, really close to turn things around.”

Nancy highlights the fact his team play well for one half at a time. Indeed, but for wastefulness in front of goal they might have been more than 1-0 up. “I saw enough aside from the fact that we haven’t scored more goals,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but I have also to be fair.

“The level we had at times was exceptionally high. That happened. I wouldn't talk like that if it was untrue. But that’s why, regarding outcomes, I noted this is the same story. That’s why I said that a change is coming to things turning around. Currently: small things.”

“I saw plenty of positives that we did, once more. But now comes down to performing for 90 minutes. My outlook would be different if I didn't believe it. Therefore I am a big believer we’re going to be able to turn things around.”

Röhl’s Cautious Response

Danny Röhl played down talk of a serious challenge in spite of what appeared to be a statement victory. “We take it game by game, and we can really build up a challenge,” he said. “The belief in the squad is immense.”
