President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the presidential home.
He added that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.
Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Vigils across the state have been held in their memory.
The president said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed reporters. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community members came together over the past few days at the high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both they had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to assist law enforcement in the capital.
“Sarah was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to support those in need.”
Service arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The incident prompted the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on a news show that she aimed to speak to his relatives.
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with excellence, according to the military.
