Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
