Stateside entertainer Finn, who appeared in iconic TV shows including "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in LA on Monday following cancer treatment from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a statement.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific TV Career

His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of hit series, including:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Away from his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted on social media.

The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
