Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for questions to be raised about his position after a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.
The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.
They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.
“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from above,” Slot stated.
“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”
He continued, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”
Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:
“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”
He added, “In the normal discussions I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so we'll see.”
Slot highlighted familiar weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.
“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.
“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”
He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”
“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with outcomes so bad.”
Jones finished, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always fight.”
“Our aim is to help the side return to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the world.”
“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
